Then, we spread a known volume of the diluted sample on a nutrient agar plate and incubate it at a specific temperature for a certain period.

After incubation, the number of colonies that grow on the plate is counted. The total plate count should be within the acceptable limits set by food safety regulations. A high total plate count may indicate poor hygiene during the manufacturing process or improper storage conditions.

Detection of Pathogenic Microorganisms
